Low visibility shallow water halibut hunting in Humboldt County…It was a combined effort between many people that allowed us to spear these fish, that as far as we could find, were the first halibut taken by spear in Humboldt county. Many thanks to Sam for filming and to Andrew for telling us where he’d seen hallies in the past. The large snail was a moon snail, the crabs were dungeness, and the fish inside of the moon jelly was a medusa fish. The diver is wearing a Yazbeck Kelp Stalker wetsuit, Picasso Blackteam fins, and using a Crist, 5ft polespear. Camera: Canon Powershot SD630 with Canon housing Video was shot on Sunday, August 22, 2010. Music: Theivery Corporation – Until The Morning

Super classy how you place your spear on my board for that final shot of my fish . . .
I thought that looked like the jetty out there by the coast guard station, I miss Humboldt and Six Rivers Brewery and the Alibi and Arcata. I live out in Denver now so thanks for the glimpse of home!
so how long can u stay in that water before you get too cold?
Also, that medusafish capture is really cool. In person, I reckon it deserves its own video… Dr. Fritzsche’s book says only one has been documented in Humboldt Bay — two now! Searching on “medusafish” in YouTube income this vid at the top, and it’s on the first page of a Google search — not many other examples out there. Fishbase doesn’t have video of it either. Anyway, if it were my medusafish, I’d make a huge deal out of it. And what an aggressive small guy too… Shortly!
Some guys were discussion about this vid last night at Six Rivers Brewery — heard the word “awe-inspiring” a couple of times… Nice work!
Outstanding vid! Classy and cool! I like it! get some more!!!!
So sick, just like all of your videos, even better with a pole spear. I was wondering what type of dive watch you use , I am looking to buy my first one and wanted to know if you had any recommendations, keep up the excellent work
COOL
Awe-inspiring. With a bit of luck I’ll see you out there some time.
