100811 Canon SD790 test video on Yamaha trip to Simi.mp4

Test of Canon Powershot SD790 camera, 10mp stills, 640×480 vga video, 3x zoom not used, on a 2005 Yamaha FJR1300 ABS. Video shakes terribly at freeway speeds using a FastBikesUSA $80 aluminum mount, even though the tank feels more vibration free than the handlebars. The camera mounting arm seems to amplifly the vibration a bit…I will try some thin rubber between the camera and the 1/4″-20 bolt point. Bracket is at maximum height at a 45deg angle up (about 6″ long), but needs to be at a higher angle or longer to get the camera above the speedometer…I may grind off the aluminum that prevents this, which does not seem to add any might anyway. Rattle noise, periodically, is from the small on/off button on the camera, i reckon. Camera was not set for straight ahead, unfortunately…oh, well. see bracket: www.shop.fastbikesusa.com Freeway ride from 101 Goleta to 118 Simi Valley; visit to MotorCycle Larry’s in Simi to pick up highway pegs and assorted powerlet and ram ball parts. First still from Goleta, then Carpinteria; video and still in Ventura; the 23 to the 118 to Tapo Canyon exit, to Los Angeles Ave, to Angus, to NPT Engineering (1925 Angus) for MCL. Then back 23 to 101 Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, Ventura, Rincon, Downtown Santa Barbara, and back to Glen Annie exit in Goleta and Dos Pueblos High School area. I reckon the speedometer is reading about 10mph high.
