This was opening day morning of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque New Mexico. October 2nd 2010. Took these videos all through the first couple hours starting at lift off of the Mass Ascension. Lift off started at 7 AM and the sun had not yet broken over the Sandia Mountains which border up against the east side of Albuquerque. I was standing at the southwest corner of Balloon Fiesta Park. It was a fine morning. Perfect for the start of the Balloon Fiesta. I was using a Canon PowerShot SX20 IS camera. Which has a 20 X optical zoom. 2010 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta www.balloonfiesta.com

Let me know if I can be of any help if you want to go to NZ. a Stubbie…LOL thats very Australian but your forgiven. I’d like to keep in touch…send by e-mail me at carissanz@hotmail.com. maybe we could meet up for a beer!
@CariNZ Oh Yah…..I see the one your discussion about. Wish I could have gotten a longer up close video for you. Excellent to know someone from New Zealand made it over here. Hope the crew had a excellent time. One of these days I hope to make it over there on a vacation excursion. Anyway….Have a stubbie on me.
@sandiaman1
at 10.25 at the end there are two balloons in the sky that are blue..one has what looks like head phones or ear muffs on its right beside that with a silver and black mosaic middle. thank you for that!!!!!
@sandiaman1
Right at the end of your video its a blue balloon with a silver and black mosaic pattern around the middle of balloon. its called the southern cross. are you here in Albuquerque city? I am. you have to look hard for it. lol the basket number was 146. it shows up at the time line of… 10.25 and its next to the one with what looks like ear muffs on.
@CariNZ Which one was it?
finally some one who caught the New Zealand balloon on video! thank you!
Awe-inspiring footage. I hear it is alot of fun at AIBF.
It’s absolutely gorgeous up here too and I like it. Yet, as many fantastic things as there are to delight in in the city, the country, up in the mountains and by the sea, there is still nothing that compares to the visually spectacular Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Replaying your video I recognized balloons I had seen before as well as new ones. I looking forward to seeing more of your videos, especially If you’re plotting on filming the Special Shapes Parade and/or the Balloon Glow.
@MsArtistmom I have fond memories for myself. The Balloon Fiesta is fun to look forward to every year. Some years have been a small cooler then this one. And….oh…..I have become a green chili addict since I started living here. The hotter the better. I add it to very nearly everything. Hope life is going well for you up in the Pacific Northwest. My other favorite part of the country.
Greetings from the Pacific Northwest! Thoroughly loved your video! Brings back the fondest memories of life in New Mexico; getting up 2:00 a.m., making home made tortillas, fixing breakfast burritos with the best chile around, wrapping up kids like they were burritos and head off to the Alb. International Balloon Fiesta. We would huddle together on a blanket in the field and watch the balloons start their ascension into the gorgeous blue skies as the sun rose. Delight in your week in the sky!
Super, thanks for posting.
