One Questión : Why the .mov clips filmed in Sx1 is freeze and jumping on my pc, i try to reproduce in quicktime, videolan, and others …have any codec especial for canon? Do you Know this? thanks in advance

before HD became the default for Broadband video, you needed to append &fmt=22 to the URL to get it to play in HD. &fmt=18 for HQ.

Nowadays it defaults to HD for you, or you can push the convenient HD button.

sir what do you mean by fmt=22 for HD?

If you are considering the Sony HX-1 or Canon SX1 IS, you should also consider the Casio EX-F1 because it has a focus ring around the lens, a open-air mic jack, a hot shoe, a threaded lens for UV filters, and slow shift (if you want a fun bonus). Hard to believe it’s from Casio. The problem is the price.

Yes, It’s crazy that Canon thinks it’s OK to only record 1:30 of video. Sony HX-1 and Casio EX-F1 is 30 min. For that reason alone, I cant get the Canon.

…or you can get an sd card

  8. cespinosa79 on January 6, 2010 at 12:22 am

Like the HD mode. Only one drawback is that Canon only lets you record up to 1:30 minutes continuously in HD.

Well if you get that amount of noise in similar conditions as in the video I’d recommend taking the camera back to the store and asking replacement. That sounds like a terrible cell.

    Please, I need help.

I bought SX1 IS 3 days ago and when I try to record HD movie at low light there is so much noise that the movie is unwatchable. I just can’t setup the right formula to record HD movies at low light.
I saw HD movies from you and other users of SX1 IS and the movies are fantastic.

    Please, I really need help.

What is the right setting to record these gorgeous movies at low light?

    Thanx

It looks very nice.. excellent quality and excellent sharpness, the colors also are excellent and you see the quality of the glass.

It is excellent that these days we don’t have to choose between excellent photographs and excellent videos. Even the sound was decent! Better then the gurgle you did get in the past.

  14. triggerdog7 on January 6, 2010 at 4:02 am

HD means HD, do you reckon there’s a difference between them or something? You are very DUMB!

I have this camera with a 32GB reminiscence card and it recorded approximately 100 minutes of full HD video at 1080p 16:9 aspect ratio… vYour best bet is to get a Class 6 or higher SDHC card with this camera

  18. Jonnybarbs on January 6, 2010 at 6:52 am

8GB reminiscence card is around 24 min. 30 sec. of 1080p video do the math for whatever other card sizes

  19. PWNZORDRETURNS on January 6, 2010 at 7:02 am

    Yes

  20. PWNZORDRETURNS on January 6, 2010 at 7:26 am

The SX1 cannot show HD itself unless connected to a tv via HDMI. They always remain HD, on and off the camera’s SD reminiscence.

  21. HandShock on January 6, 2010 at 8:10 am

Ok, I cant seem to get this answered: how long a video clip can you make..in HD and in 4:3…?
The specs say it eats up 5mb’s per SECOND…!
