Thanks for the review. I bought one and plot on taking it on a backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon. I’ve wanted a camera I didn’t mind getting wet or dusty. This should be a fantastic camera for use in poor weather conditions, too.

I had an Olympus Stylus 790 SW it’s supposed to be waterproof, shockproof (from 5 feet high) and freeze proof. I dropped mine from about 2 feet up by accident and the screen cracked, so I was really disappointed.

i’m not so sure about getting it yet…. i reckon i’ll wait for a D30 or D50. because olympus already has a line of sweet excellent waterproof, crushproof, drop-proof camera which are the SW Stylus series and there are already latter generations available. with that in mind, i really like canon cameras but i reckon that getting the very first one they made to be the kind of camera it is, it’s usually best to wait for a better, improved model.
