it has manual and auto for ISO, high ISO, and some control on gap/shutter. You can even set it to take extra long shutter times, up to 15 seconds!
i dont reckon you can while recording but you can zoom before you record. The videos are typically 640 by 480 but can go lower in compact mode or 320 by 240

canon 860is = SD870 is… very nivce camera
canon sd 870 IS , canon ixus 850 IS and canon ixy 910 IS are all same fantastic camera i bought one.
can it optical zoom in video mode? how high is the video resolution?
Very excellent camera. Buy some extra open-air storage space as you going to need it with the huge pictures your going to end up taking.
Does it have full manual control of shutter, gap, and ISO?
I ordered one of these off Newegg. It is a fantastic camera, the build quality is brilliant. I am very pleased with it. Mine had a minor defect, a couple of pixels on the screen were dead but I am getting a replacement no problem at all. Don’t let that deter you from buying one though, it isn’t all that common of an issue with this camera, even if it does happen, you can indeed exchange it for another new one.
