Go to: www.aberystwyth-online.co.uk Canon PowerShot G9 Time-Lapse Photography Time-lapse photography is a cinematography technique whereby each film frame is captured at a rate (1 picture every second in this case) much slower than it will be played back (15 frames per second). When replayed at normal speed, time appears to be moving quicker and thus lapsing. Time-lapse photography can be considered to be the opposite of high speed photography. Processes that would normally appear subtle to the human eye, such as shift in the sky-clouds, become very pronounced. Time-lapse is the farthest translation of the cinematography technique of undercranking, and can be considered as a form of stop shift animation. @volcomvenom Me too! Mine broke about a month ago, and I couldn’t find anything decent to replace it (the G10 and G11 have cellphone-resolution video and no time lapse, no camera of that size from other brands had all the same features, let alone anything better) so I got the G9 fixed. I wish cameras were more like computers, and in fact improved with each generation.
That would be right if it was 1fps, but it’s 30fps so it would take around 3 hours for 3 minutes of footage with a 2 second interval.
I like my G9 forget the G10 and G11!!!!!
i have
the trip about london… the camera makes really nice videos.. the mic works better as i first expected.
about 6 minutes i reckon… because it’s allmost 3 minutes long and i reckon the pictures might be taken every 2 seconds?
nice, relaxing music
where did you get it?
get CHDK
awe-inspiring!
i got PowerShot A480, how can i make time lapse (set the camera so it will take picture every 15 sec. automatically) ?
That is quite right. But g9 is in the least controllable by a computer and there are time lapse programs that do wonders: GBTimelapse, PSRemote… So you can in fact make high res time lapse with the g9. (which must be hooked to a computer of course)
Can I distress you to give me the name/title of the song by Medwyn Goodall? Fantastic work and thanks.
Incredible Video!
How long did you record for the complete video?
Thanks

Gorgeous! I like how you had the statue in it too
Very relaxing.
thanks for the vid, very nice. do you have an HD film made with the g9 that you could upload? if not what could you say about it? thanks very much
Hi Charles, Bill McCreary back again!
Hey, I did a search on the iTunes Store for Medwyn Goodall, and learned he has something like 90 albums out there!! What a prolific actor!
Give iTunes a try and see if you can find what you’re looking for.
Shortly,
Bill McCreary, Palmer, Alaska.
Hi Charles,
Thanks for your quick answer. I’ll see if I can do some research and come up with a source for the music you used with your fantastic time lapse video, as well as the rest of the albums you mentioned. And yes, I am really enjoying using and learning about the Canon G9. I have a couple of Canon DSLRs and assorted lenses, but the G9 is a camera I will carry just about all the time, to cover those occasions when the huge gear is back home.
I’ll keep you posted. Thanks, Bill
Hi Bill, I hope you are finding your G9 a pleasure to work with. The music for this is by Medwyn Goodall, Copyright Free music. If anyone knows where I can pick up the full set of about 8 albums, please let me know.
I like your video. Just received my G9 and learning all the features. I’m nervous to try the time lapse feature.
Please, tell us what the sound track is that accompanies the video!
Thanks, Bill
Nice time lapse demo of G9. Like the soundtrack too. Well done. Can’t wait to get my G9. Waiting for delivery.
Cool! What’s the music??
thanks, I had already find out!
Just go to movie mode and choose time lapse in the options.Camera will now fire once a second.Push shutter release again to end recording. Now go to playback and push play.Simple when you know how.Excellent luck.
i reckon you can in fact buy a contrivance to hook up to most digital slrs (canon) and can choose how many seconds each picture is taken then edit it on the computer.
Lovely. But let it be known this camera should not be bought for its time lapse feature. The resolution is a measly 640×480. This camera looks like it rocks on everything else but for time lapse waste $180 on the Samsung S850 for its intervelometer selection. You can take a pic every 1 or 2 seconds for three hours @ up to 8 mega pixels each(way better than 640×480!!) and then stich those pics together in quicktime pro, final cut xpress,or iMovie and voila! A high rez video of smooth time lapse.
fantastic!
