English subtitles aside, I am not making any profit from this: my new 10-minute non-fiction experimental YouTube Canon Powershot home-video documentary-small film. I very nearly didn’t take my camera! Nothing out of the run of the mill could happen on an early morning when everyone is just rising, I thought to for myself. But then I remembered that ‘cosmic coincidence’ is that rare opportunity unexpectedly presented in front of you. So in a way I was just lucky to come across this scene. Delight in! I dedicate this video to Shaari, Narcu, Yasir, Ayya and Ramzu. This is also a tribute to Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down, one of my all-time favorite feature films that blurs the line between realism and well loved entertainment. According to the revised constitution, in article two, it says that the republic “is based on the principles of Islam.” Article nine says that “a non-Muslim may not become a citizen of the Maldives”; number ten says that “no law contrary to any principle of Islam can be useful in the Maldives.” Article nineteen states that “citizens are free to participate in or carry out any endeavor that is not expressly prohibited by sharia or by the law.”

In Maldives goats are usually raised to be slaughtered as sacrifice all through the christening of a child. As soon as this goat grows up, too, it will be slaughtered :(

Seven members of the Maldives Control Service who arrested a wayward goat on the streets of Male yesterday morning have found themselves unwitting filmstars after the incident was filmed by a passerby.
