    How did you connect the three monitors and have them work? I seem to have problems with three DVI

  5. Vortex1988 on November 27, 2010 at 6:02 pm

    @Bethefisher Btw, here’s some of the specs his computer will have:

    Intel Core i5 760 (2.8Ghz stock)
    4GB of DDR3 dual channel RAM @ 1600mhz
    Radeon HD 6870
    2x 750GB (total of 1.5TB) WD Caviar Black hard drives in RAID 0

    He hasn’t chose yet either, but I reckon we’re going to probably get him a 24″ monitor. There’s a really nice one from ASUS we’re looking at right now. It should be sweet awe-inspiring once we get it together. It’s going to kick the crap out of my computer too, lol.

  6. Vortex1988 on November 27, 2010 at 6:54 pm

    @Bethefisher Yeah, lol. I in fact started building my own computers because I was sick of having my family buy them from computer companies and then not working as well as we expected. I’m glad I taught for myself how to build them too. You can get a lot more for your money that way, for the most part.

    A friend of mine is in fact reduction up some money for me to help him build a pc. It should be sweet nice once it’s done.

    @Bethefisher I didn’t mean to insult your opinion… It was this comment that set me off, “Lets face it. A Mac is the Mercedes of the computer world.” I also thought you were referring to the computer (hardware, itself) being superior to PC machines, which also set me off. Now that you said operating logic, yes. I am on a macbook right now, it’s simpler and more elegant that windows. Loads right up, but I prefer my fedora machine over anything including windows.

    But yeah, wretched.

    @Vortex1988

    Finally someone that does not insult me for my own opinions. Yes I see your point where not everyone needs the software, and I will further say I don’t even use all of it. I guess it is just a nice thing to have. If you ever feel in the mood to do something, you have the tools to do it with.

    None the less like you mentioned, building a computer will save you a few hundred and you will feel proud meaningful you place it all together. Either way have fun YouTubeing!

  9. Vortex1988 on November 27, 2010 at 8:55 pm

    @Bethefisher That’s right. Most people don’t need software like that though. Give me microsoft office and I’m pleased. Other than that I just surf the web and play games. Building your own computer can sometimes cut down on cost even more.

    I cant be closed minded because I run three windows machines as well. My gaming rig has a AMD Phenom 925 Quad core at 2.8Ghz, two 1TB hard drives, Windows seven Ultimate, 8Gb DDR3, Radeon 5770 cross fired X2. And you cant run OSX on a windows machine. All I am saying is OSX is a much better experience over windows. Sure you can build a computer for a cheaper price but you will not get the same experience.

  11. milodaman2 on November 27, 2010 at 10:18 pm

    @Bethefisher WOW holy shit, you’re closed minded. If I wanted to, I could place OSX on my windows computer, OSX is like what, $30? This computer that I am on is one I built. Cost $900. It has 2TB RAID 0 setup, dual monitors (apple does make excellent monitors though). 6GB DDR3 @ 16000, a Radeon HD4870 from last year and oh yeah, an intel i7 950 @ 3.2ghz OC’d. Cost of windows: $100 bought OEM from newegg.

    “no-name programs” You’re implying that there aren’t shitty ones for osx too. btw: 1TB=$79

  12. Bethefisher on November 27, 2010 at 10:46 pm

    @Vortex1988

    You ” Can ” get PC HARDWARE for half the money. But you cant get the SOFTWARE for half that money. And OSX+ was calculated to run on a select handful of machines, making it a lot smoother and quicker then say Windows seven.

    Sure you could always get a Laptop for $600 that ” Can ” do everything a Macbook can do at $1000, but only after blowing a few hundred for premium software. None of the no-name programs made in someones garage.

  13. Vortex1988 on November 27, 2010 at 11:37 pm

    @Bethefisher You’re kidding right? You can get a pc with better components for half the money.

  14. Bethefisher on November 27, 2010 at 11:39 pm

    @milodaman2

    You cannot rebuild a Mac Pro for $700. It’s amusing how people act like sheep when it comes to this kind of thing. A one TB hard drive alone will place you at $200. Want me to keep going? A excellent video card will also run you $150-$400. Legit copy of Windows seven home premium puts you back another $200! So…That $700 just disappeared before you even got the majority of your parts, let alone a case to house it all.

    Lets face it. A Mac is the Mercedes of the computer world.

    I thought you could only hook up two monitors with a MacPro?
