    In my points of view for the people if they are beginners and doing serious photography , g12 is the best selection to enter into digital photography world………………………………..

    @bumblebee308 I haven’t played with it, but let me tell you that fans of Nikon DSLR cameras usually carry a Canon G series compact in their camera bags. I reckon the P7000 is Nikon’s attempt to get some of the Canon G series market share.

    @jrajesse What about the Nikon Coolpix p7000??? Thanks

    @bumblebee308 Any of those would do. They’re all excellent cameras. If you want HD video go for the G12, if video is not a necessity, then G10 or G11. I just bought an Olympus E-PL1 and it’s cheaper than the G12, the image quality is better than the G12 also.

    @mike2moto It should already have the IS on from the factory setting. But, to check that it is on, you’ll have to go through the menu options.

    i just bought this camera and i LOVE IT!! but how do i turn IS on? wretched if this seems like a obtuse question

    @curtismichael14

    This is not recommended as a beginner’s cam…….but, I do believe that even if you’re a beginner, you can learn your way into this camera. It’s learning curve is quite a bit higher that cheaper P/S cams, but if you’re dedicated you can do it. But certainly not a beginner cam.

    @SlurpSilencer That’s right.

    @jrajesse Erm… what do you mean by basic photography? Is it stuffs like ISO, gap, shutter speed and etc?

  11. jrajesse on February 16, 2011 at 8:16 pm

    If you’re moving up to a DSLR shortly on, I recommend the Canon S95 only because it’s cheaper that this model and they share the same sensor. You would get more from this camera if you already know basic photography.
